And Tiree visitor & TV Chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, will be there to inspire the food.

Tiree Music Festival [TMF] has pulled off an amazing coup yet again this year and has announced The Fratellis as the headline act for this year’s festival.

The Hawaii of the north hosts the TMF event over the weekend of 17-19th of July. Having announced the headliners, Festival Director Daniel Gillespie announced to Forargyll.com and Oban Fm that tickets will go on sale at 5pm on Monday 23rd March and will be available here online.

And the amazing coup I hear you ask?

TMF will be The Fratellis only Scottish festival this summer.

The ground will shake and the crowds will dance when Chelsea dagger rings out over the flatlands of Tiree as they close the festival on the main stage on the Sunday the 19th.

Add to that the list of other acts confirmed to play the multi-award-winning festival now confirmed as a mixture of Tiree favourites and top contemporary folk including We Banjo 3, Skerryvore, Manran, Gentlemen of Few, Skipinnish, The Chaplins, Cherry Grove, Trail West, Gunna Sound, Dun Mor, The Lowground and Chunks.

Variety is the spice of Tiree life with many more bands still to be announced to complete the eclectic line-up.

Festival Director Daniel Gillespie says ‘Since the creation of TMF in 2010 we have been annually striving to attract an iconic Scottish band to Tiree so we are just ecstatic to have The Fratellis headlining TMF2015.’

Famed for its laid back atmosphere, TMF attracts a diverse audience and is well-known as being one of the most family-friendly in the UK. The camping gates – alongside the Festival arena and just across the road from the beach – will open on Wednesday before the event making Tiree a real holiday destination.

TMF Community Director Stewart MacLennan: ‘Our annual visitor survey is crucial to our planning for each festival and some of the key feedback from last year was to have more activities for children and families. The Singing Kettle has been the premier family show in Scotland for decades so to have the exciting new show Funbox at TMF2015 is a fantastic addition to our family activities and shows throughout the weekend.’

Friday is family fun day with Funbox, who will be hosting a ‘Pirates and Princess’ beach party on the Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile top TV chef, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall will be cooking up a storm using local produce alongside the star of his River Cottage apprentice scheme, Sam Lomas. He says: ‘As a regular visitor to Tiree I am looking forward to collaborating with one of Tiree’s best known caterers, Sian Milne of Beachcomber Cafe, to create a “pop-up” cafe and take away at the Festival.

‘With Chef Sam at the helm, we plan to offer a simple but delicious menu based around the finest Tiree and Argyll produce.’

The multi-award winning event has sold out every year since its inception in 2010, with early bird tickets for the 2015 being snapped up in a record breaking 6 hours last December. Due to demand, the festival took place over three days for the first time and expanded its capacity in 2014 to 1600 – over three times the population of Tiree/

So keep an eye on Forargyll.com for more info and updates.

Tickets will go on sale at 5pm on Monday 23rd March and – to remind you – will be available here online.
